Ashby museum has an archive of over 3000 photographs – both original and copies. This page allows people to view the main group of photographs, but does not include photographs in specialist collections as these often include ones that are not in our primary area of interest. Larger images may be viewed at the museum during opening hours, and copies for private use may be purchased.

Ashby was also served by the branch to Derby. Coalville (17c) '2F' 0-6-0 No. 58247 shunts the Holywell Mill siding in July 1954. The brake van stands on the line to Melbourne and Derby, while to the right, is the siding to the gas works and soap factory. Ashhy Gas Work (note groundframe sign on left.) Holywell Mill in middle centre with residential cottages still in existence on left. Site of railway lines is now part of the Burton Road school playing field. Note: Branch line from Ashby Station to sidings to Holywell Mill & Soap Works remained until circa 1964, rest of line closed in 1954/55
